CASE OF THE MONTH
LUNA

Luna came into our Portobello surgery having been off colour with difficulty breathing and a cough. The vets decided to take x-rays of her head, neck and chest to help work out why Luna was unwell. Luna had a general anaesthetic allowing the vet to examine the back of her throat to see if there was anything stuck. The vet noticed a thread right at the back of her throat, but this thread would not come out easily.

X-rays showed us that she had swallowed a needle with the thread still attached! The needle and thread were removed from the back of Luna’s throat. Luna needed pain medication and antibiotics to allow her to heal and recover. We are delighted to say that Luna has made a full recovery and is now doing really well at home.
